Enze

The name Enze is of German origin, derived from the Old High German word "enzi," meaning "eternal" or "everlasting." It first emerged during the medieval period in central and southern Germany.

One of the earliest recorded instances of the name Enze can be found in the 12th-century Annals of Hildesheim, a chronicle of events in the historic town of Hildesheim, Lower Saxony. The Annals mention an individual named Enze von Wohldenberg, a minor nobleman from the region.

In the 13th century, the name gained some prominence among members of the clergy. Enze von Löwenstein, a Benedictine monk and scholar who lived from 1205 to 1271, is notable for his contributions to the study of medieval canon law.

During the Renaissance period, the name Enze was particularly popular among artists and intellectuals. Enze Holbein (1460-1524), a German painter and woodcut designer, was a renowned figure in the Northern Renaissance art movement.
