Goutham

The name Goutham has its origins in Sanskrit, an ancient Indo-Aryan language that dates back to the 2nd millennium BCE. It is derived from the Sanskrit word "gautam," which means "descendant of the sage Gautama." Gautama was a renowned sage and philosopher who lived in ancient India around the 6th century BCE and is credited with founding the philosophical system of logic, known as Nyaya.

In Hinduism, Gautama is revered as one of the seven great sages or Saptarishi, and his teachings are widely studied and followed. The name Goutham is believed to have been initially adopted by those belonging to the Gautama gotra (clan) or those who followed the teachings of Sage Gautama.

Goutham Ghose (born 1950) is an Indian film director and screenwriter known for his critically acclaimed films, such as Moner Manush and Kaaler Rakkhoshi.
