Sayana

The name Sayana has its origins in Sanskrit, an ancient Indo-Aryan language from the Indian subcontinent. It is believed to have emerged around the 2nd millennium BCE. The name is derived from the Sanskrit word "sāyana," which means "evening" or "night."

In Hinduism, Sayana is one of the names of the goddess Durga, who is revered as the mother goddess and the embodiment of divine feminine power. The name is associated with strength, protection, and resilience.

More recently, Sayana Nambiar (1927-2014) was a renowned Indian classical dancer and choreographer, recognized for her contributions to the revival of the Mohiniyattam dance form in Kerala.
