Itohan

The name Itohan originates from the Edo language spoken by the Edo people of southern Nigeria. It dates back centuries and is believed to have origins from the early medieval period, around the 13th century. Itohan is thought to be derived from the words "ito" meaning "truth" and "han" meaning "life" in the Edo language, thus signifying "truth of life" or "life of truth".

In early Edo culture, names were often given with deep spiritual and philosophical meanings. Itohan was likely chosen to represent values of honesty, sincerity, and living an authentic life rooted in truth. It may have held religious significance as well, though records are limited on its precise symbolism in ancient Edo societies.
